Leonard Magawa is the Managing Lawyer at Lema Law Chambers, dedicated to strategic, client-centered representation that ensures individuals and families feel supported throughout the legal process.
He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam, and a Bachelor of Divinity from Tumaini University. Leonard is also a Doctor of Laws (LLD) candidate at the University of Pretoria. With over two decades of legal experience in Canada and internationally, he brings deep knowledge and a strong academic foundation to his practice.
Leonard has served in managing and associate counsel roles and taught contract law as a sessional lecturer at Keyano College. He has published scholarly work on human rights and land rights issues and remains committed to mentoring articling students and contributing to the legal profession.
With extensive courtroom experience, including trials and protection hearings, Leonard combines expertise with an empathetic approach, ensuring clients feel informed and supported.

Mabhezya Rehani | Barrister & Solicitor
Mabhezya Rehani is a Barrister and Solicitor specializing in Family Law and Immigration. She joined the firm in August 2024, bringing legal experience from Tanzania and Canada.
She earned her LL.B. from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania. She also holds a Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and completed her legal training at Lema Law Chambers.
With experience in legal research, advocacy, and client service—including roles with the Tanganyika Law Society and as a legal assistant in Canada—Mabhezya takes a collaborative, empathetic approach to every file. She focuses on practical, cost-effective solutions, working closely with clients to resolve matters efficiently, especially in sensitive family and immigration cases.
Family-oriented and community-minded, she values minimizing conflict and protecting children’s well-being, while enjoying time with loved ones, cooking, and life-focused podcasts.

Ankit Mittan | Student-at-Law
B. Tech, L.L.B./JD
Ankit is a Student-at-Law at Lema Law Chambers, joining the firm in June 2025. He holds a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Technology from Kurukshetra University in India, reflecting a strong analytical and well-rounded academic background.
He began his legal career in India, practicing for over four years in Trial Courts and at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He gained expertise in Criminal, Civil, Family, and Property Law, and provided pro bono assistance in a consumer fraud case for farmers, resulting in a successful settlement. After immigrating to Canada as a permanent resident, Ankit broadened his experience through roles in security and municipal bylaw enforcement. He earned his NCA qualification in March 2025, a key step toward practicing law in Canada.
Known for his client-focused approach, Ankit emphasizes clear communication, trust, and active listening. He speaks English, Hindi, Haryanvi, Punjabi, as well as Urdu.

Gary Gaurav Dhingra | Student-at-Law
Gary Gaurav Dhingra is an articling student with international and Canadian legal experience. He joined the firm in August 2025 and holds Student-at-Law status with the Law Society of Alberta. He is also a member of the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana, India.
Gary holds degrees in Commerce and Law from India, including a Master of Laws, and completed the NCA process in 2024. His background includes corporate and tax law practice in India, judicial research work with the National Company Law Tribunal, and legal compliance experience at TD Canada Trust in Canada.
Gary approaches client matters with a thorough and collaborative style, prioritizing clear communication and tailored solutions. He is motivated by helping clients navigate complex legal systems and aims to provide practical, timely advice. Outside of work, he enjoys reading legal literature, exploring new places, and spending time with family.

Jacinthe Desbiens-Pilon | Legal Assistant
Jacinthe Desbiens-Pilon joined Lema Law Chambers in Spring 2025 as a practicum student and became a Legal Assistant in June 2025. She provides legal supports in the firm’s practice areas, such as Family and Divorce, Immigration, Child Welfare, and Wills & Estates. She holds a Legal Assistant Diploma from Red Deer Polytechnic, having initially pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration before discovering her passion for the legal field.
Jacinthe brings empathy, patience, and dedication to her work. She prioritizes understanding clients’ needs and emotions, ensuring they feel supported, respected, and reassured throughout their legal matters. Her collaborative approach and attention to detail allow her to provide efficient and thoughtful assistance to both clients and colleagues.
Outside the office, Jacinthe is a devoted parent who enjoys reading, crafts, and spending quality time with her daughter and extended family. She believes in kindness, understanding, and the importance of building trust—values she carries into every aspect of her work.

Ntongwe Nazarus Metuge | Office Assistant
Ntongwe Nazarus Metuge is the newest addition to the team as of February 2026, as front desk assistance and reception. He holds an LLB from the University of Yaounde and an MBA from Lincoln University, UK.
Ntongwe is client-focused and attentive, taking the time to listen carefully to each client’s narrative and ensuring he fully understands their goals. He works diligently to provide timely, responsive support, prioritizing the satisfaction and confidence of every client he assists.
Outside of work, Ntongwe enjoys exercising, playing soccer, and spending quality time with his family. His approachable and supportive nature, combined with a strong commitment to client service, helps create a welcoming environment for clients navigating legal matters.
